FLY FISHING FILM FRIDAYS ARE BACK!
As I acclimate to married life, I thought that a fresh installment of fly fishing film Fridays was a good place to start. But before we jump into the video for this week I want to give you all a quick teaser of what else is to come.
My new wife, Sarah, and I were lucky enough to honeymoon on Grand Bahama Island. Before the trip all I could think or talk about was bone fish. At first I didn't think that we would be able to fit a guided trip into our schedule for the week because you are supposed to do couple things on your honeymoon! Well I am always underestimating Sarah, she was the one who made me call a guide and book the trip. She also said she would come along to film it and take some pictures. I knew there was a reason I married her!
The trip was excellent. We spent about seven hours on the water and I landed six bones! It was the thrill of a lifetime. Next week I will be posting an in-depth entry about the whole trip including a short video of the highlights. But for now, I have included a couple pictures to keep you interested until then.
If you aren't familiar with Hooké then you can check them out here. They are a group of French Canadian fly fishing enthusiasts who put out some fantastic content. I love their videos because they don't solely focus on footage of big fish, but rather they give you a feel of the whole experience. A fly fishing excursion is much more than the time spent on the actual water. Sure, that is obviously the main point but I also love the freedom of exploration, finding a good dive bar in the area, double checking your gear to make sure you have all you need, etc. All of these elements shape the overall experience, and I love that experience.
In this half hour video by Hooké you will see an amazing trip to southern Patagonia. They catch some monster trout and salmon. The whole trip looks fantastic and I think you will all enjoy it!
